It does what it’s supposed to do, mashes potatoes. On the smaller size and doesn’t take up a lot of room in the drawer.My GF couldn't even make mashed potatoes until I bought her this utensil. Now she makes the best mashed potatoes ever. Use Yukon Gold Potatoes. Peel and quarter. starting with cold water bring to a boil and cook until soft but not mushy. Drain and put potatoes back in pot and back on heat. Mash and stir over heat. The goal is to cook some more of the water out of the potatoes through steam loss. (this allows the potatoes to absorb more flavor). Then add REAL BUTTER (it makes a difference) and instead of milk use Heavy Whipping Cream/Heavy Cream. Mash with the Potato Masher you just bought. Season with salt and pepper. (for really awesome potatoes, stir in some Sour Cream or Cream Cheese. Gracefully receive Accolades from your Family.I don't really like uni-tasker tools in my kitchen (read on!), but if you want to make mashed potatoes, a fork is a lot more tedious than this piece of metal with a plastic handle. You could probably use it to beat your carpets or as an auxiliary antennae for that radio you picked up at a garage sale, but it works best for it's intended purpose. You can also mash berries with it for desserts if you wanted to. A solid piece of Chinese manufacturing I hope I never have to buy again. Recommended.The Smasher Works incredibly well. This one you have to work to get food from crevice and is a little on the short side.I found this item sturdy and much easier to clean than my old masher. It did a very good job with potatoes and the wide head got the job done faster.
