2007 finalist, The John Lennon Songwriting Contest for The Purple Polka-Dot Banana Apple Orange Lime. Two time quarter finalist and semi finalist in The International Songwriting Competition for Lucky, Potato Numbers, and Pussycats respectively. Mark Wolfe: When I first set out to make a children's CD, I did not want to cash in on any current novelty or sound. Instead I wanted to make a record that would appeal to children of all ages, something that would have staying power. In other words, a record with a long shelf life, one that could be revisited from time to time, or from one generation to the next. I think I've succeeded. So whatever your taste or interest, I think POTATO NUMBERS just might have something for you. I wrote, produced and performed these songs and yet I still find new things that catch my ear and make me smile. I hope POTATO NUMBERS brings you the same joy for years to come. Sincerely, Mark Wolfe It's Bugs Bunny meets Monty Python as narrated by Dr. Seuss. And that's just the warm-up act! Many familiar voices drop by: a former president, John Wayne and even the King of Rock and Roll. And some very funny Mark Wolfe creations, as well! You won't be disappointed whether you're three or ninety-three, Potato Numbers is a must-own CD for the whole family. Read on to learn more about Potato Numbers. POTATO NUMBERS SINGIN' TIME (PART 1) It's Potato Numbers Singin' Time and away we go. A pounding kick drum gets us started as we count our potatoes 1-2-3. How many taters do you see, when you count your potatoes 1-2-3? PUSSYCATS Pussycats has become Potato Numbers' runaway hit thus far with it's pumping gypsy rhythm and a singer who sounds like he could be Sylvester the Cat's European cousin. This track has become a quick favourite. NOTE: Watch the Pussycats video at YOUTUBE, search words, Mark Wolfe Pussycats. THE PURPLE POLKA-DOT BANANA APPLE ORANGE LIME Now this is just downright fun! First you start with a comedic vocal delivery to rival that of the great Peter Sellers, add some Dr. Seuss-inspired lyrics, combine that with a Monty Python chorus, some driving ukuleles and you have the makings of a modern day novelty classic. YOUTUBE video coming soon! BONKY THE DONKEY Poor Bonky would like nothing more than to sleep by his favourite tree in his favourite shade. Unfortunately, the farmer has other ideas. Who will win this battle of the barnyard? A GOOD SAMARITAN This is the most curious track on Potato Numbers. The digitally altered vocal sounds like an alter boy singing against a backdrop of Gregorian monks and an angel glockenspiel. But the message is timeless and clear. One's highest calling is to help others. POTATO NUMBERS A snappy up-beat tune set against a new country guitar riff. You'll be singing along in no time as the potato makes it's way from the ground to the dinner table and beyond. LUCKY Lucky was the first track recorded for Potato Numbers and the template for all the songs that followed. Written for the real life Lucky, who was the best four-legged friend Mr. Wolfe ever had. THE COWBOY WAY The Cowboy Way transports the listener back to another time, as the storyteller wistfully dreams of a simpler life. Listen for Mr. Ed in a guest starring role. BIRD BATH Bird Bath is the only instrumental on Potato Numbers and sets a nice ambient tone. POTATO NUMBERS SINGIN' TIME (PART 2) Potato Numbers Singin' Time returns with it's familiar kick drum intro and provides a look back at all the songs on the CD -- a nice way to say this is where we've been and thanks for comin' along. The Superstar Girls (pictured on CD cover) are guest singers on this track. WISHES All too soon, Potato Numbers, comes to an end with a wonderful piece titled, Wishes. This short but sweet number is reminiscent of Kermit the Frog's RAINBOW CONNECTION with it's lovely banjo stylings. POTATO NUMBERS comes with a beautiful fold out lyric insert.
