Product Description

Product Description Five years after the Mike Keneally Band's Guitar Therapy Live triumph at LA's intimate Baked Potato club, a most worthy sequel is born. This time, Mike raises the stakes by adding guitarist Griff Peters to the mix, allowing the quintet to rise to new heights of musical power, diversity and subtlety. Live favorites are mixed delectably with seldom-played gems from Mike's catalogue to create a truly astonishing DVD and CD set. The region-free NTSC DVD of the entire September 15, 2010 concert features stereo audio, DTS 5.1 Surround, Dolby 5.1 Surround plus two band commentaries, and the CD comes in scant seconds short of the maximum possible 80 minutes. Mike Keneally Band is Mike Keneally: guitar, keyboard and vocals, Bryan Beller: bass and vocals, Rick Musallam: guitar and vocals, Griff Peters: Guitar, and Joe Travers: drums and vocals. Review If you're a long-time fan, this is indispensable, and if you're a newbie, welcome to the club, brother or sister or alien, you couldn't have chosen a better place to start. --Folk & Acoustic Music ExchangeBakin @ the Potato! isn't just a consciousness-raising, ante-upping, grab bag o awesomeness, it is the sole inspiration for that phrase. Isn t that enough? --Pop MattersIt's further worth noting that just by virtue of the crystalline sound mixing alone, the Bakin' @ the Potato! tracks improve on their originals. (Sluggo, from which two songs are played, is content-wise one of Keneally's best albums, but it features a distracting aural muddiness.) The set also includes the full Baked Potato concert on DVD in 5.1 Surround and stereo mixes that differ greatly, and fascinatingly, from that on the equally superb CD; the full package allows us to experience these performances from as many sonic and visual angles as possible. And the DVD's videography, directed by Keneally himself and other members of his SoCal pan-prog entourage, is uncommonly attuned to the players' musicianship in a manner that neither straightforwardly exposes their dexterity nor attempts foolhardy performance portraiture. (Too many cheaply made concert DVDs zoom incoherently close on faces during solos to capture enraptured grimaces or, worse, zoom incoherently close on fingers hitting fretboards.) This technical mastery gives the Mike Keneally Band the visceral representation that they and the tunes they think their way through deserve. --Slant Magazine

Great small venue setting. Great music, great musicians. Looks good, sounds good. If you are familiar with Keneally or his band members. Or if you are open to explore some really good music. Then buy this you will not regret it.
